Wind Component Rail Distribution Center Opens in East Peoria

By Kevin Borgia on April 22, 2009

PEORIA -- Vectora Transportation, LLC last week opened a new distribution center intended to handle the increasing amount of freight in wind energy components now moving through Illinois.

According to a company press release:

The facility is served by the Toledo, Peoria, and Western Railway (TPW), enabling access for the site to five Class I railroads (UP, BNSF, CN, CSX, and NS). The Vectora facility offers more than 15 acres of storage space and 5,000 feet of live loading/unloading track, and the adjacent TPW yard can facilitate the termination of both manifest and unit train service at the site.

In addition to full time management and security staff, Vectora will equip the property with rane and rigging equipment capable of handling all types of wind energy components, including nacelles, blades, hubs, and tower sections.
